The majority of workers in the U.S. and Europe would take a pay cut if it meant landing the job of their dreams, according to a survey by Monster Worldwide Inc., which operates the Monster.com online employment Web site.
The survey of workers in 19 North American and European 19 countries found that 82 percent of U.S. workers and 76 percent of workers overall said they would pursue their dream job even if it meant taking a reduction in pay.
Workers in Ireland topped the charts, with 84 percent willing to sacrifice compensation for increased job satisfaction. Workers in Switzerland and Italy tied with the U.S. at 82 percent.
Workers in Hungary are least willing to take a cut in pay, with 38 percent saying they would not take a pay cut for a dream job. Also cautious were French and German workers. Thirty-four percent of workers in France and 27 percent of workers in Germany said they would not be willing to sacrifice pay for ultimate job satisfaction.
